St. Marcellin’s Children’s Village

Harare, ZimbabweSt. Marcellin’s Children’s Village in Harare, Zimbabwe was established in 2002 to care for orphaned and homeless children in need. Many of the children have special needs including physical disabilities, blindness and HIV, but in the supportive and loving environment of St Marcellin’s, the happiness of the children shines through.

Today St. Marcellin’s Children’s Village houses more than 77 children, with the majority of placements conducted through the Ministry of Social Welfare, who place children at St. Marcellin’s as a legal place of safety. The home consists of three houses, staffed by a team of house mothers and assistant house mothers. A dining room in each house serves all daily meals.

The school also serves the local community, with over 130 students enrolled in programmes ranging from early childhood development to grade 7.
