IIMPACT Girls Education Project

MoroccoThe Emirates Airline Foundation proudly supports IIMPACT, an organisation committed to providing educational opportunities to girls from socially and economically disadvantaged communities in India. Through setting up and supporting community-based Learning Centres, IIMPACT aims to break the cycle of illiteracy that girls from these communities are mired in.

Learning Centres provide meaningful and stimulating education up to Year 5 and guide the students’ entry into mainstream middle and high school education. Today IIMPACT educates girls in 1,100 villages in 11 States of India, and ensures that 100% of donor funds go towards educating girls.

IIMPACT Girls Education Project

The vision of IIMPACT is to transform the lives of women, families and entire communities in India by the education and empowerment of girls.

The Emirates Airline Foundation partnered with IIMPACT starting in June 2015, by funding the establishment of Learning Centres. With 100 new Learning Centres to be set up within the first six months, the funding from the foundation will deliver primary education for more than 3,000 girls.

Mr Krishan Dhawan, one of IIMPACT’s founders and an ex-MD of Oracle India, describes the programme:
“The real heroes of our story are the girls who have been courageous enough to enrol in our Learning Centres, to stay the course and then to continue on to further formal schooling. As first generation learners, they are the true pioneers of their communities, going down paths where other girls had not gone before. We salute these true heroes and their parents who have demonstrated that real change is possible, even in the most challenging of circumstances."
