Lifeline Express hospital train brings care to 4,000 patients in Bhatkal

The latest mission of India’s Lifeline Express hospital train took place at Bhatkal Railway Station, in the Uttara Kannada district. The mission delivered medical treatment to over 4,000 patients for problems related to cleft lip, cataracts, post-burn contracture, neurological conditions (epilepsy), dental disorders, polio and club foot –which these patients were unable to afford on their own.

Additionally over 120 local children were given dental exams, and education on dental hygiene with a toothbrush and toothpaste set to take home.

The Lifeline Express is a project in cooperation with Indian Railways and Impact India Foundation. A long-time sponsor of the Lifeline Express, the Emirates Airline Foundation has sponsored several of their missions over the years including a mission to Nandurbar which treated over 5,600 patients, a mission to Sagara reaching 5,300 patients, and a mission to Wadi Railway station in Karnataka which brought medical care to over 4,000 people.
