High IMPACT education for over 4,200 girls

Education and women empowerment go hand in hand, and together they can become a force that transforms the lives of families and entire communities. That’s the vision of IMPACT India, a project sponsored by the Emirates Airline Foundation since 2015.

Reassuringly, IMPACT has increased its enrolment to over 4,200 girls and is now operating more than 140 Emirates Airline Foundation-sponsored learning centres.

Through setting up and supporting community-based learning centres, IMPACT aims to break the cycle of illiteracy faced by girls from socially and economically disadvantaged communities. Learning centres provide a meaningful and stimulating learning approach up to Grade 5, guiding students’ entry into mainstream middle- and high-schools.

IMPACT also organises quarterly training seminars for 300 teachers across its learning centres in lesson planning, topics, communication and presentation skills in Hindi and English. These are aimed at enhancing teachers’ knowledge base and equipping them with effective tools and methodologies.

On International Women’s Day 2019, IMPACT invited students and their mothers to build awareness of their rights and to address gender equality through the theme ‘Think equal, build smart, innovate for change’.
