The Emirates Airline Foundation recently received its largest single donation to date – US$500,000 worth of medicines from SkyLink Aviation. This tremendously generous donation of medicines, including lifesaving vaccinations, anti-malarial treatments, HIV/AIDS therapies and antibiotics was elected best suited for the organisation Outreach to Africa (OTA) which operates a clinic deep in rural Uganda. The clinics are a lifeline to the thousands of people in these rural areas who would otherwise not have any access to medical treatment.

Emirates staff, volunteering for the foundation, liaised with local government authorities to manage the extremely complex logistics required for such a large shipment and import of valuable medicines. On arrival at Entebbe Airport, Ugandan authorities commented that they had never seen such a donation, in terms of quantity and quality.

These wonderful medicines are now in full use at the OTA Fort Portal clinic, actively healing and preventing illness, bringing dramatic improvements to many children’s lives. The Emirates Airline Foundation also sponsored several trips of nurses and doctors to travel from the United States to Entebbe, Uganda, where they conducted health screenings, check-ups, vaccinations and treated many illnesses.
